Ensure the safety and security needs of children in my care at all times
Encourage soap and water hand washing before meals and after bathroom use
Clean your indoor area with bleach/water solution after each use
Ask for identification if you notice an unknown adult picking up a child or in our program area
Actively supervise children during all programming time
Consider the cleanliness of the program a high priority and actively work to maintain a high level of cleanliness
Attend mandatory weekly staff meetings
Attend mandatory parent dinners
Become involved in working/planning special events
Communicate your needs/concerns with Program Administrators
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $12.00 to $15.00 /hour
East Boston Social Centers is hiring motivated staff to work at our Out of School Time program. Our program is open between 1:30-6pm during the school year. During school vacations and summers we are open from 8:00am-6:00pm.
Job Description includes but not limited to the following:
Relate to all children and youth in positive ways
Respond appropriately to the individual needs of youth
Encourage children and youth to make choices and to become more responsible
Consistently interact with children and youth to promote learning
Use positive techniques to guide the behavior of children and youth
Regularly greet parents in a positive manner and encourage their involvement in our Program
Be respectful and cooperative with coworkers and administrators Model positive relationship and good listening skills for children.
Use the indoor space available in creative and new ways ex: changing learning centers, assist coworkers in creating an indoor environment that is soft, inviting and child- centered ex: child's work well displayed; colorful bulletin boards; games and materials well taken care of, etc.
Regularly bring children outside for physical activity. Use safety precautions when outside (first aid kit, head counts of children, aware of damaged outdoor play equipment, etc.) and let administrators know of safety issues.
Follow program curriculum; which includes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) as well as SEL (Social Emotional Learning).
Listen to children's interests and include their ideas.
Encourage and teach children how to resolve their own conflicts; Discuss curriculum ideas with coworkers and promote multi-ethnic and multi-cultural curriculum.
Define age-appropriate curriculum and modify the lessons for children of different abilities.
